I believe God grants every one of us unique talents and abilities to ultimately share His working in our life with the world. He created us specially ... with our personality, our perspective, our sense of humor, and most importantly, our heart.

A lifelong passion of mine has been writing poetry. Rhymes have come to me as far back as I can remember. As an adult, about 15 years ago, after a devastating 5-year series of events  that altered my entire belief system, my lifestyle and surroundings, I found myself unable to write! No poetry. No journaling, as I had always done.

This period of hardship exposed a past that I had to face whether I liked it or not. I was patient and am still in the process of allowing God  to expose everything in His time and for His purpose. I am slowly healing. As a result of pressing in and finding hope again, I’m happy to say that in 2020, suddenly I found myself inundated with poetry in my mind once again!! My blockage had lifted! And I began to pour out my soul once again.

Part of my healing was to begin to write down my life story which I was in the works on. While sifting through old journals, I found a vast amount of poetry and writings throughout my lifetime, beginning in childhood. I found that the excerpts spoke to every gamut of emotion and every heartbreak and joy present in one's life. It was suggested to put my poetry together in a book. Thus, Ancient Eyes was born.

While terrifying to open up my heart at this level, including the nitty-gritty of adolescent fury and deep despair, my life course God put me on culminated in publishing my journey, accepting with open arms the ultimate freedom in Him, and  unabashed thankfulness of God's sustaining love and power in my life!

This site is a place to learn "the story behind the poems". My goal is to write blog posts to expound on the poetry with stories of their origin, and the surrounding lessons I have learned throughout my lifetime. If you would like to follow my journey, sign up for my blog posts and we'll travel this together.
